BOOK REVIEW • ALL THE BRIGHT PLACES

I certainly do love a good read! When I picked up this book at my local book store, I was not expecting it to be as good as everyone had said it was! In today's post, I am coming at you with a new series on my blog here, which I am hoping to be continuing. I am going to be doing a visual book review, which includes samples of what to expect inside the book (no spoiler alert) and what my thoughts were on the book itself!

The book I am reviewing today is called 'All The Bright Places' Written by Jennifer Niven. First of all, can we just talk about the cover?! People always say don't judge a book by its cover but this one was just really eye- catching. I love the way it is laid out as post- it notes with small descriptions either side in to the story. It was also described to be as 'The Next Fault In Our Stars' which I think is very true, the plot is rather similar.

As I started reading, I noticed the switch in characters after each chapter. I like to know the different thoughts and views of each character and found this a good way to intrigue a reader in.

The story itself  is about a girl and a boy named Violet & Finch, who do not seem to like each other at first but, then they are slowly lead to. They are both going through suicidal thoughts which leads them to help one another out somehow, with great secrecy as their parents are not aware of their circumstances. Once Finch is aware of Violet and her condition, he slowly leads her to a stop and he then becomes the reason to what she is actually living for. After that, the story grows whilst they learn about one another and gradually grow feelings as well.

There is a focus on mental health issues and the problems we may face regarding it today. I love a good book which is focused on mental health issues as this is a great way to raise awareness but, be warned as it could be triggering for you if you have possibly suffered with suicidal thoughts in the past as well as any other mental health issues, it was slightly triggering for me too. Aside from that, I adore how the author has also included some facts and figures regarding mental health awareness at the end of the book, and letting people know that there is help out there available for them, and they are not alone!
