Friday the 2nd of February, is a very special day for the Children's Heart Surgery Fund. I am all for donating to different charities, helping others out and just making people feel special and loved! Whether you are at work, school or even just at home with your family, its really easy to take part, all you have to do is wear red! #WearRedDay is a brilliant way to raise awareness for this charity! If you want to find out more just carry on reading...
What is it all about?
The Children's Heart Surgery Fund are a supportive charity, who help children and adults that are born with congenital heart disease, plus their families too. They offer support for all involved whenever they are in need of it. By donating, you will be able to help them fund for more ground- breaking new equipment, resources, training and research facilities. They want to aim to make sure that all these children and adults have the best support available for them during their stay at hospital, working alongside the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit at the Leeds General Infirmary in Yorkshire.
Thanks to the amazing efforts by the fundraisers, and generous support from the public, they have already been able to provide a grant of over £6 million to the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit, the patients, and also to their families!
A great motto they live by is caring for the heart, the mind, the family and also the future. I think this is amazing as a holistic approach because the body as a whole needs support, physically, mentally, emotionally and socially...
Facts & Figures...
- Approximately 400 children undergo heart surgery every year.
- 450 children have interventional treatments, such as pacemakers, catheters and stents each year.
- 10,000 children pass through the Leeds Congenital Heart Unit each year.
- 1,699 children and 722 adults underwent heart surgery procedures between 2012 and 2015.
- 180 children and families are seen by the psychology service each year.
I hope you guys enjoyed reading this post as it something completely different for me. However, this year I do want to focus on other issues as well not just beauty and fashion. I would love to see your thoughts down in the comments below.
